Nia teaches this; most classes start with stepping into the space to create movement that is perfect for the individual dancer. If I feel like swaying my hips, then that’s what I’ll do. If I feel like being still on the outside, but feeling the music on the inside, that’s perfect too. It’s about being present, finding what works and what feels good to the body.
So it should be in life. Everything kind of bogs us down when we’re trying to create a path of abundance, happiness, and clarity. The job, the kids, the rent, the car battery that just died, the endless mountain of chores and errands. Sometimes you just want to sit down and have a good fit, and that’s okay! But don’t get stuck there. Feel the icky emotions and then let them go.
Step into a new emotion, a new day, a new moment. Just move, listen to your body and spirit, and the bog will lift. Things will become a little clearer when you move into the moment.
Happiness cannot reside in the past or the future. Happiness is now. Step into it.
