How to Bring Tiny Bits of Magic Into Your Busy Life

Living a magical life doesn't mean you have to plan and perform grand rituals and ceremonies. It doesn't mean you have to learn complicated spells or buy a hundred dollars worth of special tools. It doesn't mean you have to carve out hours of time to listen to spirit or send out intentions or get back to nature. And it definitely doesn't mean everything has to be perfect.

Your life is full of schedules and appointments and to-do lists. Daily life is busy! The great news is that magic can be done on the move. Magic can be woven into your clothes or hang from your rear view mirror or cleanse you in a five minute shower. Magic is all around and can easily be squeezed into your busy schedule.

Here are a few ways to bring tiny moments of magic into your daily life.

Create an Amulet or Good Luck Charm

Your special object could be anything: a vintage necklace that caught your eye, a beautiful quartz crystal, a found penny, a nick knack you found at an estate sale.

Once you have something meaningful, infuse your own magic into it. How do you do that? Well, it's really up to you. There are loads of books and websites that will give you a step-by-step process, but you can also do it your own way.

Maybe that means you smudge it with sage and whisper a prayer over it. Or maybe you dip it into a waterfall then breathe your intentions into it. If you're looking for inspiration, I recommend Veronica Varlow's post on How to Put Your Own Magic Into an Object.

Place Your Magical Object Where You'll See It

One of the best places to put your amulet is in your car. Think about how often you're driving to and fro. Having that bit of magic with you during long commutes and in between shopping trips will uplift and enlighten.

Appreciate Nature

A really easy way to infuse your daily life with magic is to appreciate the beauty around you. What season is it? Are the leaves putting on their autumn coats or are the flowers shedding their winter frost? Notice the trees in your neighborhood, how the grass feels between your toes, how a rosebush perfumes the air. Even if you only get a glimpse of nature throughout the day, take it in and appreciate the natural beauty weaving its web around you.

Carry a Charm

Do you have a small charm (crystal, coin, button, pin, etc.) that you'd like to have with you at all times? Put it in your purse or wallet or in your pocket. Whenever you need a bit of magic in your day, pull the charm out and give it a little squeeze.

Burn Incense or a Candle

Burning a candle or a stick of incense at the end of the day is a magical way to relax. Place it near your bath or on the table during dinner. It's also a nice creative ritual; before you sit down to write or paint or whatever creative thing you do, light a candle/incense and focus your intentions.

Even if the candle is unscented, watching the flickering flame can be quite meditative.

Sew Charms Into Clothes

I like the idea of brides sewing tiny blue hearts into their wedding gowns. It's a secret "something blue" that gives the bride one more thing to smile about.

You can do the same with your clothes, blankets, purses, whatever! Choose a symbol, word, or phrase that holds meaning and sew it into a hidden spot. Only you'll know about it, which makes it all the more fun.

Talk to Your Guides/Pray/Give Thanks

Whoever or whatever you seek guidance from can always be accessed. Say a prayer on your way to work - you don't have to close your eyes. Give thanks at the end of the day, right before you drift off to dreamland. While you're in the shower, ask your spirit guides that question you've had on your mind all week.

Spirit is always ready to listen.
