Fun Things To Do This Fall

I've never been more excited for fall in my life. This summer has been brutal with 100 + degree weather and months without rain. This morning was the first morning with temperatures in the upper 60s, and it only got to 98 today. Progress!

Besides the cooler temps, I also love that warm autumn light that settles over everything in the late afternoon. I'm also excited for veggies and soup, beautifully colored leaves, spices and hot apple cider. Not to mention, Halloween!

So here's a little list I've put together of happy fall activities. Feel free to add your own!

♥ Knit a scarf. I've had a hankering to learn how to knit. I want to wear my own scarf and cute hat creations.

♥ Wear a different pair of funky socks everyday. Sock Dreams has something for everyone.

♥ Pick up some fall veggies at the farmer's market.

♥ Bake with apples. I'm drooling over these miniature apple crumbles.

♥ Host a Halloween party. Let everyone know that if they don't show up wearing a costume, you'll give them one (and it won't be pretty).

♥ Offer to rake leaves or pick up pecans for a neighbor.

♥ Find the perfect pair of fall shoes. I adore these wedges.

♥ Fill your home with the smell of cinnamon, pumpkin, and gingerbread.

♥ Open your windows and let your house “breathe.” Lots of icky stuff can build up in our homes and cause us to feel drowsy. Keep the windows open for a few hours and I promise you'll have more spunk.

♥ Stay home in your pjs, drink hot chocolate, and read a book. Put Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children on your to-read list.

♥ Bake leaf-shaped cookies and gift them to a friend.

♥ Take photos of the fall foliage.

♥ Incorporate fall colors into your wardrobe in small ways. Paint your nails army green, burgundy, or copper.

♥ Wrap yourself in a blanket and stargaze.

♥ Get organized. The cooler months tend to slow us down and keep us inside, but don't let things get cluttered until spring. Clean out your closet, organize your shoes, throw out old makeup, store important documents in a filing cabinet.

♥ Start an exercise routine. Just like staying organized is important, so is keeping your body in check. Just because you won't be strutting around in your bathing suit, doesn't mean you can't treat your body like the goddess it is. Incorporate some exercise into your routine at least three times a week and drink plenty of water!

♥ Have a picnic. There's still time before winter's chill.

♥ If you're a writer, join NaNoWriMo. Get that novel written!

♥ Invite friends for tea and play Victorian parlour games. Here's a whole list of them.

♥ Have a coffee date with yourself.

♥ Watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. It never gets old.

♥ Browse an old bookstore.

♥ Write an old-fashioned letter.

♥ Carve a pumpkin.

♥ Whip up some herbal remedies. There's something for everything.

♥ Have a d.i.y. spa day. The Mountain Rose Herb blog has lots of great ideas on what to make.

♥ Jump in a pile of leaves. Relive your childhood days; don't worry about the mess.

♥ Be in the moment. I think this is the most important and not just for the fall season. Really live in the moment and become fully aware of everything around you. Drink in the daylight and all that nature has given us.
