She wore feathers in her hair long before it became a trend. Purple, blue, green, pink, bundled like a bouquet of flowers or weaved into braids. Nobody knew her without them, and sometimes she didn't know herself when she wasn't wearing them. She said magical things happened when she wore her feathers: birds fed from her hand, hummingbirds stopped long enough for her to take pictures, star-shaped flowers bloomed overnight. Feathers were definitely her lucky charms.
